About this directory

Local radon kits are real, and they are easy to miss. A health department may sell an $8 test at a branch office, or a state may mail one free kit a year, and that page is buried under everything else the agency does.

American Radon Test Kits exists so you can find the cheapest legitimate option near your home, then decide whether a reusable electronic monitor fits you better. The local option stays on the page even though it pays us nothing. That is the point.

Who reviews the guidance

Bill Dahlstrom owns American Radon Systems, a Chicago-area mitigation company. He has about 15 years of hands-on radon mitigation experience in Illinois, and he has spent years helping people understand test results.

This website is educational. It is also an affiliate site for Airthings monitors. It does not mean American Radon Systems is licensed to test or mitigate in Minnesota, Colorado, or any other state outside its Illinois service area. If you need a mitigator, hire someone licensed where the house is.

How the site is paid for

If you buy through an Airthings link, we receive a small percentage of the sale at no extra cost to you. That support is what pays for opening official pages and writing down the date we checked them. The discount code and the limits on that code are explained on the monitor page.

Questions and corrections: report a change. Nothing you send is published until a person checks an official source.
